Celebrate Service at the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg hotel

Holiday Inn Gaithersburg Participates in IHG's Celebrate Service! 

In 2010, Intercontinentals Hotels Group (IHG) and the IHG owner's association (the IAHI) are collaborating to launch a new initiative, Celebrate Service, to symbolize the care and concern IHG and its owners have for their overall workforce, and to let their employees know that they are valued as individuals for their contributions.  Celebrate Service runs Monday, July 26 through Friday July 30.

Based on a week-long series of system wide and property level events to celebrate the contributions of hotel level personnel, Celebrate Service will call attention to the work that team members do through their many acts of service, hospitality and graciousness.  During the week of July 26th, the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg hotel is pleased to celebrate our team's contributions with the following events:

  • Monday:  2 pm Treat!  Managers will deliver treats to all team members - "Inn" made cookies!
  • Tuesday:  Thank you Breakfast for all team members
  • Wednesday: Ice Cream Social - complete with all the toppings!
  • Thursday: Team Member Luncheon - an upscale feast, featuring London Broil & Chicken Champagne!
  • Friday: Another 2 pm Treat!  Managers will deliver treat bags to all team members
We are also having a Baby Picture Contest with a special prize!  Even though Celebrate Service is only one week out of the year, the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg is always truly a hotel that cares for its team members!

"We are very proud of our team here at the Holiday Inn Gaithersburg hotel and realize that employees are key to our success!  I am looking forward to an exciting week of fun events and personally thanking each team member for their contributions.  Our team members here have been through the challenges of a major renovation, a recession and this past winter, we "weathered" some history-making snowfall!  With over 2 feet of snow dumped in less than 2 days, local power went out but fortunately not at our hotel.  We quickly realized we had an emergency situation on our hands and welcomed all the reservations and walk-ins to fill our rooms!"

"During that time, team members stayed in the hotel (away from their families) to take care of our guests and we had a full house for five days.  All departments helped each other out - we had Front Desk agents rolling silverware and bussing tables and waitstaff helping to clean rooms.  Our engineers were busy outside constantly shoveling snow and removing snow from guest's cars and helping to shovel them out."

"Our Food & Beverage team created a cinema in a meeting room and we showed movies 4 times daily and included popcorn!  The Front Desk rented out board games to our guests who, when they had had enough swimming or use of the fitness center, were delighted to engage in late night Monopoly and Scrabble tournaments in the lobby.  We even created theme dinner buffets each night to keep the menus interesting and feed our hungry guests, who could not venture out anywhere."

"We will never forget that winter nor the efforts that all of our staff put forth to keep our guests comfortable in their home away from home."
